Frances M. McNittFrances May McNitt, formerly of the Blue Grass area, Minn. and a long time resident of Royalton Township, Pine County, Minnesota, died March 17, 2002 at the Fairview Lakes Regional Medical Center in Wyoming, Minn. She was 88 years of age. Known to her family and many friends as Fran, she was born July 29, 1913 in Red Rock Township, Mower County, Minnesota and was the daughter of Fred and Jennie (Henderson) Herr. Fran and her first husband, John Herr, made their home in Blue Grass. John died in 1950, and in 1964, Fran married Howard McNitt. They farmed together and Fran also worked as a cook at the West Side Cafe in Wadena, Minn. In 1969, Fran and Howard made the decision to move to rural Pine City, Minnesota. They settled on a farm in Royalton Township and Fran became employed as a cook at the Arlington Cafe in Cambridge, Minn. Always a busy person, Fran still found time to indulge in her hobbies of cooking, crocheting, and gardening. Fran is survived by her husband, Howard; sons and daughters-in-law: Fred and Mildred Herr, St. Paul, Tom and Donata Herr, Alexandria, Minn., John & Barb Herr, Wadena; daughters and sons-in-law: Nancy Williams, Minneapolis, Margaret and Wilfred Schwartz, Wadena, Irene and Dale Goodman, Columbus, KS, Sharon and Ervin Muellner, Burtrum, MN, Ethel and John Becker, Wadena; stepchildren: Rolland and Pat McNitt, Moorhead, MN, Russell and Kathy McNitt, Wyoming, MN, Mary Baldwin, Burnsville, MN, Edwin McNitt, Brooklyn Park, MN, Marlys Reiser, Mora, MN, LaRae and Jesse Halaharvi, Fridley, MN; 32 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law: Russell and Donna Herr, Hilmar, CA; other relatives and many friends. Fran was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Jennie Herr; her first husband, John Herr; and her grandchildren, Kimberly and Michael. A funeral service for Frances was held Thursday, March 21, 2002 at St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Rush City, Minn. with the Reverend Steve Tischer officiating. Organist was Dick Scheele and soloist was Diane Volk. Honorary casket bearers were Franís grandchildren. Casket bearers were her grandsonís Joseph Muellner, Gary Sch-wartz, Joel Herr, Jason Plautz, Craig McNitt, and John Bristlin. Interment was at the St. Johnís Lutheran Cemetery near Rush City. Arrangements were by the Olson Chapel, Funeral and Cremation Service, Rush City, Minnesota. ©ECM Post Review |
