Inmate found dead in Chisago County jailRoger Clifford Olesen, 47, was found hanging in his cell by inmates at the Chisago County Jail around 7:10 a.m., Wednesday, March 20. He committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope he braided from strips of a bed sheet. He also left a note, having planned the suicide for some time. Todd Rivard of the Chisago County Sheriffís Department said Olesen attached the rope to a vent in the ceiling, pushing an unbraided portion of the sheet through small holes. Olesen had been in the jail since July 2001, 243 days in all, and was scheduled to appear in District Court later that day for sentencing on a criminal sexual conduct charge. The case is under investigation by the Chisago County Sheriffís Department and Minnesota Regional Coronerís Office. ©ECM Post Review |
