Alfred A. Krippner

Funeral prayer service for Alfred A. Krippner will be held Thursday, March 7, at 6 p.m. at the Olson Funeral Chapel in Rush City. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. and continue until time of service.

Reverend Laurie OíShea will officiate. Interment will be at 10:15 a.m. Friday at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Military honors will be held at the cemetery by the Fort Snelling Military Guard.

Alfred Albert Krippner was born Feb. 15, 1915 near Aurora, a small town near Owatonna, Minn., to Christian and Rebecca (Brusch) Krippner.

He attended and graduated from the local school and after his father died, Al began working on the family farm and also the Owatonna Tool Co. While United States was in the height of WW II, Al joined the United States Marine Corps, serving as much time aboard ship as did a Navy inductee.

Al participated in action against the enemy in both France as well as on the Island of Guam. on Sept. 26, 1945, All was discharged from the Marine Corps. He came back to St. Paul where he began working for the United Postal Office as a letter sorter. He worked there for 30 years before his retirement in 1970.

Al married Lilamae Hughes on June 18, 1947. They made their home first in Lake Elmo where they lived for 20+ years. They then moved to West St. Paul, living there for several years. In 1991, they moved to Rush City where Al lived until his move to Green Acres Nursing home in the summer of 2001. It was here he died last Saturday morning, March 2, at the age of 87 years, and 17 days.

After Alís retirement, he and Lilamae traveled to Canada and some of the Western states. They also traveled south, visiting relatives and sight-seeing. He and Lilamae enjoyed traveling as well as the enjoyment of each others company on these travels. All enjoyed reading. He also enjoyed just sitting and relaxing and maybe a game of chess or checkers.
