LeRoy H. Palmquist

LeRoy Hyland Palmquist, age 74, of Jones-Harrison Residence, formerly of St. Louis Park, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002 from complications of a stroke suffered in 1984.

A memorial service was held Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Lutheran Church of the Reformation, St. Louis Park. Interment was at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in North Branch.

LeRoy was born Sept. 21, 1927 in Shafer Township, Minn. and raised in North Branch, graduating there in 1945.

LeRoy then served in the Army in WW II and the Korean War. He was married to Arlene in 1952 and together they had four children.

LeRoy graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1958 with a degree in architecture. He was a partner in ATS & R Architects.

He was an active member of professional association: CSI, AIA and St. Louis Park Planning Commission. He was a longtime and active member of the Lutheran Church of the Reformation. LeRoy was also an active leader in the Boy Scouts at North Branch, Japan and St. Louis Park. He also was a part of other youth recreational programs.

LeRoy was preceded in death by his father Roy Leonard and mother, Gladys Hyland Palmquist; sister, Gloria Palmquist and infant brother.
He is survived by loving wife Arlene (Swanson) of almost 50 years; children: Bradley (Elizabeth) Palmquist, Beth (Jack) McCarthy, Mark (Shelley) Palmquist, and Scott (Ginger) Palmquist; ten grandchildren: Benjamin, Nicholas, Colin, Heather, Clint, Any, Krista, Tyler, Leah and Kyle; brother, Lowell (Mona); sisters, Leone Erickson and Floy Martinson; along with many other relatives and friends.
