Message of May 8 guest commentary is still pertinent

To the editor:

I though it may be of interest to your readers to know the letter featured in the May 8 Guest Commentary titled ìDrugs? Alcohol? Addiction? Not My Child!î was written nine years ago by Michelle Larson. At the time, Michelle and I were identifying the need to get information to parents. Despite the fact that it is almost a decade old, it has aged well.

There are many young people who are not gaining their full potential because of the effects of alcohol and other drug use. You can call your childís school for help and resources. A parent support group meets on Monday, May 20 at 7 p.m. at the Chisago County Senior Center.
