Joan Wilkowski

Joan Wilkowski, age 71, of Staples, Minn., died Wednesday morning, May 8, 2002, at her home surrounded by her family.
Funeral services were held on Friday, May 10 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples with Father Tim Wenzel officiating. Arrangements were with the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples.
Joan Felicia Wilkowski was born on March 9, 1931 in Rush City, Minn. to Charles and May (Lundeen) Wilson. She grew up and attended school there graduating with the class of 1949.
On October 29, 1949 she married John Wilkowski in Rush City where they lived for a while before moving to Staples. Joan spent some time working for the City of Staples, but most of her working years were as a clerk for the BN Railroad until her retirement in 1993. She was member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, its Ladies Circles, the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries, as well as the TCU. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and reading.
Joan is survived by her two sons: Steven (Nancy) Wilkowski of Aitkin, and Kenneth (Dorothy Dukowitz) Wilkowski of Fort Worth, Tex.; two daughters: Felicia (Michael) Cizek of Menagha, and Paula (Steve) Huss of Staples; a sister, Jean (Cliff) Swanson of South Haven, nine grandsons, two granddaughters, and a great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John on Sept. 16, 2001, and a granddaughter, Darcy Jo.
