Girls track Tigerama brings tie for thirdThe Rush City Tigers tied for third place out of eight at the annual girls track Tigerama event May 6. St. Croix Lutheran brought in the first place win, followed by Pine City. Rush City tied with Hinckley-Finlayson for third, a sign of the teamís improvement during the season. Highlights of the meet included a third place win for the 800-meter relay team of Christine Moore, Amy Bengtson, Tegan Smichsney and Heather Dean; third place for the 1,600-meter relay team of Dean, Brianna Lauderville, Elise Johnson and Britta Johnson; and a fifth place for the 400-meter relay team of Moore, Bengtson, Ashley Sader and Alex Saxton. Individual recognition went out to Kayla Witte for placing first in the 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter runs; Saxton, who secured second in the 100-meter dash; Dean for placing second in th 400-meter dash and third in long jump; and Britta Johnson for placing third in the 200-meter dash, and fourth in the 400-meter dash and triple jump events. ìAll the hard work throughout the season is paying off for many of the athletes and relay teams,î said head coach Mike Vaughn.
