Bernard J. Roll
Bernard John Roll, known to his family and friends as Bernie, was born June 9, 1930 to Rupert and Evelyn Evans (Sabre) Roll in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He died at his rural Rush City, Minnesota home on May 7, 2002 at the age of 71 years. He served with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and received his honorable discharge at Camp Carson, Colorado in 1957. Bernie is survived by his wife, Gerry; daughter, Cathy Stanley; son, Lenny Roll, all of Rush City; grandchildren: Ashley, Rachel, and Jessica Stanley, Brian and Isaac Roll, brothers and sisters-in-law: Don & Barbara Roll, Marcell, MN, Dennis & Susan Roll, Cedar, MN; aunt: Ella Eismen; uncle: Hollis (Lorraine) Sabre; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rupert and Evelyn Roll, and his sister, Joan Roll. Funeral service was at 11 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2002 at the First Lutheran Church in Rush City with the Reverend Laurie OíShea officiating. Music was provided by organist Dianne Kirchberg. Cross bearer was Brian Roll. Casket bearers were Don Roll, Dennis Roll, Jeff Barnes, Bill Barnes, Wayne Olson, and Chuck Olson. Interment was in First Lutheran Cemetery at Rush City. Arrangements were by the Olson Chapel, Funeral & Cremation Service, Rush City, MN.
