Girls track takes third at Ogilvie

The Rush City High School girls varsity track team took third in the Great River Conference meet held May 15 at Ogilvie.

The team dropped behind Hinckley-Finlayson and Mille Lacs.

Alex Saxton came in first place and won all conference recognition in the 100 meter dash and Kayla Witte pulled down first place and all conference honors in the 1,600 meter run.

Highlights included a second place win by Amber Hoffman, Brianna Lauderville, Britta Johnson and Elise Johnson in the four-by-400 and a second place by Christine Frandsen, Becca Rogers, Kelly Moor and Janet Kemen in the four-by-800.

Christine Moore, Katie Widman, Amy Bengtson and Alex Saxton teamed up to take third in the four-by-400 and Tegan Smischney, Rogers, Moore and Lauderville secured fourth in the four-by-200.

For the boys team, Jose Figueroa earned first place and all conference in the 100 meter dash and high jump. He also took second in long jump at the meet.

Dustin Hecht secured second place in the 1,600 meter run and Jared Dahlberg was third in the 3,200 meter run.

Relay events for the boys team resulted as follows: fourth place, Dan Gamache, Chad Karlson, Noah Reichert and Josh Dahl, four-by-400; fifth place, Chad Karlsson, Dahlberg, Zach Johnson, four-by800; and fifth place, Gamache, Jeff Jennings, Korey Sybrant and Brett Dreissig, four-by-200.

The team faces area competition once again in the sub-section meet scheduled for today at 4 p.m. at Hinckley.
