By Barbara Brown

A pair of 7-year-old twins were killed Wednesday evening near Tanger Outlet Center.

According to a Department of Public Safety report, Marita Falk and David Falk, both of North Branch, were passengers in a car driven by Heather M. Kalliger, 19 of North Branch.

The 1999 Saturn driven by Kalliger was traveling southbound into the intersection of Highway 95 and Flink Avenue at 6:42 p.m. when the car was hit by a 1995 Ford pickup truck driven by Michael S. Lundell Jr., 19, of North Branch.

Lundellís truck was headed westbound on Hwy. 95 when it drove through a red light at the intersection and hit the rear passenger side of the Saturn, police said.

Marita Falk was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead, police said.

David Falk was taken to Regions Medical Center for head injuries. He died at the hospital, police said.

Kalliger, Lundell and a juvenile passenger in Lundellís car were not injured.

The accident is being investigated and no charges had been filed in the case as of Thursday afternoon.
