Rev. Donald Harmon

Rev. Donald J. Harmon, age 73, of 1345 Michigan Ave. SW, Huron, died Wednesday, April 24, 2002, at the Huron Nursing Home. His Memorial Service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at the Assembly of God Church with Pastor Nels Easterby and Pastor Angie Easterby officiating. His body will be cremated. There will be no visitation.Ý
Donald J. Harmon was born on October 31, 1928, to Julian and Ruth (Smith) Harmon at Clark, SD. When he was 1 year old he moved with his family to Huron where he grew up, attended schools, and graduated from Huron High School in 1946.

On November 14, 1946, Donald married Erma Guse in Aberdeen, SD. He attended and graduated from the North Central Bible School in Minneapolis with a Ministerial Degree and served as a minister for the Assembly of God Church.

He served congregations in Minneapolis, Scotland, SD, Yankton, Sturgis, Milbank, Pine City, MN, Pierre, Sauk Centre, MN, and Rush City, MN. He retired in 1988. For the past several years he has been a resident in different nursing homes, entering the Huron Nursing Home in December of 2001.

He is survived by his wife, Erma of Huron; 3 sons, Thomas Harmon of De Smet, SD, Jerry (Adele) Harmon of Las Vegas, NV, and Paul (Debbie) Harmon of Marshall, ARK; 2 daughters, Patricia (Ross) Puglsey of Pine City, MN, and Carmen (Arlo) Smith of Las Vegas, NV; his father, Julian in a nursing home in Lake Preston; his mother, Ruth in a nursing home in Sioux Falls; 14 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Dennis (Clara) Harmon of Huron, and Dean (Marjorie) Harmon of Huron; a half-sister, Lauralee Slaughter of Sioux Falls; and a sister-in-law, Bette Harmon of Maple Plain, MN.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Ray Jobbins; and a brother, Darrell Harmon.
