Gas release May 16 will create loud noiseThe Viking Gas Transmission Company will temporarily remove from service a section of high pressure natural gas pipeline. This will require releasing the natural gas in this section of pipeline to the atmosphere. Gas will be released at their mainline valve located on Grand Avenue about one mile south of County Road 14 on Thursday, May 16 starting at 6 a.m. The gas being released will make a sound like a jet aircraft during take-off. This loud noise will last about two hours. According to Peter Lindgren, district superintendent, there is no danger to the public. Lindgren also said the company would be going door to door up to one-half to three-quarters of a mile from the site to deliver information about this gas release. Replacement of a section of pipeline is being done partly because of the new NB fire hall project, Lindgren noted. ©ECM Post Review |
