Weather still factor for Rush City golf teams

Weather like the area has been experiencing lately has been nothing short of unpleasant.
Cold winds and grey skies have left a gloomy feeling that spring may never really get here.

For the Rush City golf teams, walking a golf course can become a real trek if the weather does not cooperate, but the teams pushed through in two matches that resulted in nice scores.

At the Grand National course in Hinckley on April 23, the girls team finished in second and the boys finished fourth overall.

Sophomore Roxanne Jennings turned out a solid performance and was a runner-up medalist with a 54.

Hinckley was first with 155, followed by Braham at 184. East Central eked out a third place spot with 193 over Rush Cityís 195.

Despite a decent day for the Hinckley match, the next day proved cold and windy. The temperature at Purple Hawk in Cambridge was 41 with a wind chill record at 19.

ìIt was not very good golfing weather,î Peshia said. ìItís hard to hang on with cold hands. The kids did a good job in adverse conditions.î
