North Branch Food Pantry could use your help

To the editor:
Family Pathways North Branch Food Pantry, located at 6479 Main Street, has finally settled into its new place. The last of the boxes are finally unpacked. Thanks to our volunteers and community members who helped with the move and set up the shelving. Staff and volunteers encourage the community to visit the food pantry and see our new location.
During this holiday time, there has been an increase in number of clients served. During October and November, there have been 157 families using the Food Pantry. The Food Pantry has been averaging about 10-15 new families per month. Many household incomes have been greatly reduced during this past year because of lay-offs or reduced hours.
Speaking of holidays, your donation is greatly needed for holiday meals and Adopt-a-Family program. Food items needed include Jell-o, whole kernel corn, canned fruit cocktail, boxed potatoes, and gift certificates to local grocers.
Holiday adopters needed to ìadoptî a family for Christmas. We ask you spend no more than $35 per person. Call the Food Pantry for more information.
The Food Pantry could always use food or cash donations. What do I donate? Think of the food items your family enjoys. What are your favorite meals to cook? A donation may consist of food items needed to make a meal. Please remember, some families may not always eat three meals a day like we are fortunate to. There are parents who go hungry to feed their children. The Food Pantry also has refrigerators and freezers for non-perishable items. Please call ahead for storage space available before donating. If you need ideas, please call the Food Pantry.
Volunteers are needed twice monthly to cover the Food Pantry from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m., and on-call. We encourage you to share your time and talents here. Regular Food Pantry hours are Monday, Wednesday, Friday, from 9 a.m. ñ 3:30 p.m. Appointments preferred. Questions on ways to help, donate, or volunteer, please call (651) 674-8313.
