He was baptized and confirmed Dec. 13, 1992 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Rush Point. The fourth of eight children, Casey was very young when the Mell family returned to their family roots in Rush City, Minn. He attended Rush City Schools and enjoyed many sports, especially football and wrestling. His pleasant personality enabled him to make friends quickly, however, growing up in rural Rush City, he spent a lot of time with his brothers and neighbors. As a member of the United States Army, Casey served a tour of duty in Vietnam. It was while he was home on military leave that he was involved in an automobile accident and became permanently disabled. He spent several years trying to find his own place to live, finally settling in Mora, Minn. in the 1980s. While living there he made many friends and enjoyed life. He loved a good game of cribbage and had many stories to tell about his cat, Sam, who was his roommate and his best friend. Playing cards with friends, watching sports on television, and caring for Sam filled Caseyís days. Casey is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law: Connie and Mike Mallinger, Cottage Grove, Minn., Shelly and Jeff Lustig, Wendy and Elvin Norling, and Penny Mell, all of Harris, Minn.; brothers and sisters-in-law: Bruce and Cindy Mell, John Mell, and Scott (Buzz) Mell, all of Rush City; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends.
