School bond issues passes, two other questions fail

In the question over school district bonding and operating levies, unofficial results from the election revealed that voters finally elected to bond for a new 44-classroom school and improvements to other school buildings.

The totals from school district voters were:

Question 1: $27 million building bond: Yes:3,732 No: 3,413

Question 2: operating levy: Yes: 3,177 No: 3,766

Question 3: additional levy for land purchase: Yes: 2,989 No: 3,780

In the last two referenda, voters voted against bonds and levies for the district. In the May 8, 2001, mail-in ballot 2,475 voted ìNoî and 1,683 voted ìYesî on a $13.5 million bond question and 2,545 voted ìNoî and 1,612 voted ìYesî for additional funding for technology.

In the November 2001 election, 2,261 voted against a $26 million bond with 2,029 voting ìYes.î For an operating levy for technology, 2,292 voted against the question and 1,984 voted for it.
