Actions speak louder than words

To the editor:
The impact of our over development has reached its peak on the schools. Two more developments appear on the horizon after the election. I have attended council meetings and workshops on a regular basis and have yet to hear concern from any of our male/council/mayor elected officials who care about the overcrowding.
They seem to blame the voters who wonít pass the referendum. Letís put the blame where it belongs ñ on the council. How many referendums can we afford?
The only concerned council person is Amy Oehlers. She has voiced concern on several occasions and voted in accord with her convictions.
We canít ignore the needs of our children, but how much can we afford? Many residents are on fixed incomes. Shall we force them to move? Yet, I found the council not working with the schools to solve the problems. Arenít we all in this together? We canít continue on this highway of growth when the infrastructure is so lacking.
Take a hard look at he problems ñ the bridge (not in the near or far future), limited shopping, overcrowded schools, etc. Take a hard look and tell me that the people of this town (other than businesses) are better off than they were 10 years ago?
Two new candidates have also voiced major concerns. Theresa Furman and Kathy Blomquist are and have been concerned for years.
Is it only women who are concerned about the children? Actions speak louder than words. Donít be snowed by the other candidates at election time. Weíve all seen honey dripping from the mouths of candidates just to get elected. Remember when you vote actions speak louder than words.
Donít be taken in just because a candidate is a long-time resident.
Many are in it for their own gain and could care less if development pays for itself.
They always look to the taxpayer. Letís put the burden on the developer where it belongs. Remember actions. Vote!
