Cleo Waldhoff Thunstrom

Cleo Evelyn Waldhoff Thunstrom died peacefully on Oct. 1, 2002, at Grandview Christian Home in Cambridge after a short illness.
A celebration of Cleoís life was held Monday, Oct. 7, at the United Methodist Church in North Branch with internment at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Cleo was born on March 30, 1920, and lived her whole life in the North Branch area. She was the fourth of seven children born to Theodore and Annie Waldhoff.
Fillmore Thunstrom and Cleo were married on June 22, 1940 and had eight children: Judy (Ken) Renard, Camille (Phil) Rainer, James (Sue), Valerie (Dennis) Mitthun, Sheryl Quick, Renee (John) Dimich, Michelle, and Jewell (John) Peterson. They had 23 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
After family, Cleoís great love in life was music. She did much volunteer work through the years playing guitar and singing at several area nursing homes, senior centers,, and churches. She shared her love of music with her children and grandchildren playing the piano and guitar and singing at home. We especially loved those silly Swedish songs we couldnít understand.
Cleo joined the North Branch United Methodist Church at the age of 17 and was actively involved when there was a large group at her home. On Sunday afternoons Cleoís was the gathering place for many sisters, nieces and nephews and in later years, children and grandchildren. The ìcoffee pot was always on and dinner in the ovenî for all who stopped by. Her delicious home-baked breads and pies were always on hand and loved by all. Cleo will be greatly missed by all those who loved her.
She is greeted in heaven by her husband, Fillmore; parents, Theodore and Annie; daughter Michelle; grandson, Nathan Renard; great-granddaughter, Kali Thunstrom; sister, LaRue Browder; and brother, Glenn Waldhoff.
Thank you to all the wonderful people who regularly visited our mother at Grandview Christian Home. A very special thank you to the loving staff at Eagles Wings in Grandview, who made our motherís last days so comfortable ñ treating her, and our family, with great respect and tenderness. You are all very much appreciated.
