Harry P. Haug

Harry Peter Haug, age 75, of Pine City, Minnesota, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002 in Murdo, South Dakota.
Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7, at Immaculate Conception Cath-olic Church in Pine City. Celebrant was the Reverend Michael J. Lyons. Kathy Hagberg provided the music for the service. Honorary casket bearers were Steve Tendrup, Kim Kendall, Lloyd Gilbey, and Greg Jensen. Casket bearers were Paul Haug, Todd Haug, Keith Fiedler, Travis Haug, Troy Haug, and Trevor Haug. Military rites were by the Minnesota National Guard, Pine City, and the Heath-Perkins American Legion Post #51 of Pine City. Interment was at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Pine City. Arrangements were by the Swanson Chapel, Funeral & Cremation Service, Pine City, Minn.
The son of Peter and Florence (Sperling) Haug, Harry was born Nov. 25, 1926 in Pine City Township, Pine City, Minn. He grew up there and received his education at the nearby Sauter School.
On Nov. 13, 1943 he was united in marriage to Helen Gilbert of Pine City. They made their home and raised their family in Pine City.
In February of 1945, Harry became a member of the United States Army. He received his honorable discharge from the military in November of 1946. Upon returning to civilian life, he bought and sold cattle as a means of making a living.
Harry enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working in his yard. Christmas was always a special time for him and he enjoyed decorating for the season. His family was of special importance to him, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Harry is survived by his wife, Helen; his children: Gary and Kathy Haug, of Pine City, Patty and Dave Robinson, Clayton, Wisc., Mark and Linda Haug, Myron and Joan Haug, all of Pine City; grandchildren: Paul Haug, Keith Fiedler, Sandy (Jason) Lutz, Troy Haug, Todd (Kim) Haug, Becky (Vance) Wedin, Travis Haug, Trevor Haug; great-grandchildren: Emily and Ashley Lutz, Abbey Haug, and Austin Wedin; sisters and brothers-in-law: Rosemary (Ron) Hewsom, North Branch, Minn., Bernice Drevecky, Pine City; brother and sisters-in-law: John and Margaret Haug, St. Cloud, Minn., Lucille Haug, Pine City; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Florence Haug; sisters, Lucille Haug and Harriet Nelson; brothers, Bob and Willard Haug.
