Tigers score against Eagles, lose 35-13

Although the Rush City football team lost to East Central last week, the Tigers played well enough to fend off a shut-out repeat of last seasonís loss.
The Tigers fell to the Eagles in the Oct. 5 home game 35-13. Last year, the Eagles took the Tigers to the mat with a 26-0 routing.
The game had been rescheduled from Friday night to Saturday afternoon at 2:30 because the Tiger football field was practically under water from the day-long rain that fell Friday.
At the end of the first quarter, the score stood at 7-6 in favor of the Eagles. The Tigers had scored on a drive with Kellin Sybrant passing to Brent Freeman for an 18-yard touchdown play.
The score would have been tied, but the Tigers missed the extra point attempt.
Before the half, the Eagles continued to take over the game and the half ended after the Eagles scored two more touchdowns, taking the score to 21-6.
The third quarter ended after two more Eagle touchdowns were completed, leaving the score 35-6 after the third.
The last touchdown of the night took the score to 35-13 for the Tigers.
Brent Freeman had an 18-yard pass to Andrew Kaufmann who ran it in. Tim Morris took the extra point attempt and was successful.
In the game, Freeman had 92 yards receiving five catches. The team totaled 168 yards passing and 98 rushing.
Although the team was short of regular players because of injuries, ìbut the rest of the players stepped up and did a nice job,î said head coach Gary Wendorf.
The Tigers face Braham away Oct. 11 and host St. John's Oct. 16.
