Volleyball still working out kinks

The Rush City volleyball team is still trying to get into the winning groove as the season nears an end.
The team had a nice opening to the season, but the latest matches have ended in three-game short competitions with the Tigers coming out on bottom.
With a new coach, the team had to rebuild this season and learn a new method of playing.
Despite the rough losing patch, coach Michele Dinius still is optimistic the team can turn around their losing streak to make it through section competition which begins Oct. 24.
The Tigers faced the Aitkin on the Gobblers court Oct. 1 and walked away with 15-2, 15-0, 15-5 loses.
The team then had a match against Hinckley-Finlayson Oct. 3 at the Jaguars venue and took a loss with 15-10, 15-6, 15-7 match losses.
In that game, senior Maria Kuhlman had 2 service aces, 7 kills, 2 solo blocks and 9 digs.
Senior Karissa Marohn had 1 service ace, 4 kills and 6 digs. Becky Nelson, also a senior, had 12 assists, 1 service ace and 6 digs.
Senior Jess Prettner had 5 kills, 2 solo blocks and 7 digs.
The team next travels to Braham on Thursday to face the Bombers.
