Rivard has his respect for sheriff

To the editor:
I have had the fortune of working with Todd Rivard for the last 15 years at the Chisago County Sheriffís Department. Todd was actively working at community policing before it even had the name. He has been an active member of the community and an integral part of the Chisago County Sheriffís Department for over 20 years. Todd has been a role model for deputies and has gained the respect of his peers. Todd has worked most all of the high profile and the most serious cases that Chisago County has had to deal with.
Todd Rivard has several advantages over his opponent. 1. Todd knows the sheriffís department personnel and is endorsed by Law Enforcement Labor Services Local 90-D. 2. Todd has not only been an active member of the community, but an active member of the law enforcement community within Chisago County. 3. Todd, as the Chief Deputy of the Chisago County Sheriffís Department, has established a good working relationship with the county board. 4. Todd has committed himself to the county, its citizens, the sheriffís department and its employees. 5. Todd has a vision to move the department forward and give Chisago County citizens the best services and protection, which only a veteran officer of the area can provide.
Law enforcement is a difficult and ever-changing profession. What works in downtown Minneapolis will not always work in a more rural setting. Todd knows the county, its employees and its citizens. Todd can step up to the challenges of sheriff without years of learning the ins and outs of how a sheriffís department is run. Todd has not only chosen to be a peace officer in Chisago County, but to raise his family here and make Chisago County his home. What better qualifications could there be for the chief law enforcement officer of the county?
Experience, dedication, commitment and proven leadership are what we need in a sheriff. Vote Todd Rivard for sheriff Nov. 5.
