Thanks for support of skate event
To the editor: We would like to thank the many volunteers and businesses that helped to make the first ever skateboarding competition in North Branch a huge success. The competition was held on Saturday, Sept. 28 in conjunction with North Branchís Fall Harvest Festival. The skate park in North Branch served as the venue for the competition, however, it had to be cancelled early due to bad weather. The competition will be rescheduled next spring. Please keep an eye for advertisement. We look forward to having you all back for another fun-filled afternoon. Despite the weather, we had a great turnout. Twenty-seven youths registered to compete in the competition, coming from North Branch and surrounding communities. The competitors were cheered on by a very enthusiastic group of spectators. This group, numbering about 100 adults and youths, were wonderful in showing their support and encouraging all competitors. This event would not have been possible without the support of the community and all the businesses that donated time and money. The Hot Spot Skate Shop in Blaine and North Branch Community Education donated prizes for the winning competitors. The MADD chapter of Chisago County provided refreshments and the Hockey Association provided snacks for the youth. A warm and heartfelt thank you from all of us goes out to the following businesses and volunteers who helped to make the competition such a successful and memorable experience: North Branch Community Education, North Branch Chamber of Commerce, the city of North Branch, Hot Spot Skate Shop, MADD Chapter of Chisago County, North Branch Hockey Association, Dominos Pizza, Brandon Hult, Darren Aufrere, Roy Swanson, Jake Gossel, Ross Larson, Matt Marche, Steve Rhode and Peter Samec.
