65 percent from stateís a bargain
To the editor: I just had the most wonderful thing happen. I was at the grocery store buying food for my family for the week. My cart was heaped full, and even though I knew my bill would be quite high, I had to get what my family of six needed for the week to fill their tummies and keep them healthy. Then as I was loading my purchases onto the counter, the person behind me in line told me that they would pay 65 percent of my bill. Can you believe it? When the cashier told me that my total was $200, I only had to pay $70. Could a better bargain be found? I left the store feeling that I indeed go the deal of the century. Ok, obviously this didnít really happen. But this deal is to be found this fall. If we vote YES on the building bond for a new school, the state of Minnesota is willing to kick in 65 percent of the cost. Thatís right - we, the taxpayers are only going to have to pay 35 percent. I was surprised to find that information out. Of course, it is somewhat disappointing to know that if the bond would have passed last year, the state would have paid 70 percent of the cost. However, 65 percent is still a pretty darn good deal. And, Iím told that this ìdeal of the centuryî probably wonít be around next year. Please join me in voting YES on Nov. 5. Janann Hagert Harris
