Library Friends share good news
To the editor: The Friends of the North Branch library are pleased to report on behalf of our local library that some exciting things have been happening. There has been a steady growth in new cards issued with 198 for July and August. There were 14,630 items checked out of our library in those two months. In addition, 298 children took part in the summer reading program. The Friends group funded three childrenís programs this summer in connection with the reading program. The Friends of the Library depend on memberships, donations book sales and Nelson receipts to fulfill our mission of enhancing library services. Every penny goes to help our library in some measure. Memberships are $10 per family per year. All members are welcome to attend board meetings held the second Saturday of each month at 9:30 a.m. at the library. There is one regular membership meeting per year and it is held in January along with a special program. Membership dollars are vital to continuing our mission. Volunteers to any of our projects are also important. Join up now. Pick up an application at the library. New memberships are good until December 31, 2003. Check out our Web site at www.nblfriends.org. We need you. Jackie Larson Friends of the North Branch Library
