Will vote yes for property values

To the editor:
It is important to have the homeowners of ISD 138 understand the potential negative impact on the property values that could occur from another failed referendum.
The perceived poor support by the residents of school districts sends a message to home buyers that their children will not receive a good education in a community that does not support the school district financially. It may become more and more difficult to get buyers to move to a community with a school district that is cutting the most basic education needs, will have ridiculous class sizes and will be in the process of cutting extracurricular activities.
Most home buyers thoroughly research the communities they are interested in before relocation, and the education system is a part of their research, especially if they have children.
Some parents have left this community and more may follow if this referendum does not pass.
Why would any home owner not support a referendum if it helps support property values and improves our community with a better education for our children?
Personally, I have no children, so I donít have a direct need for the district. However, if only for keeping the value of my property high, I will be voting YES on Nov. 5.
