Robert M. Antrobus, Jr.

Robert Melvin Antrobus, Jr. died Sept. 27, 2002 in Rush City, at the age of 47 years.
Funeral service were held Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Braham Evangelical Lutheran Church in Braham with the Reverend Dennis Tollefson officiating. Honorary casket bearers were Doug Cardinal and Tom Swanson. Casket bearers were Bart Mevissen, Ron Rands, Jim Westman, Gary Olestad, Tom Stem, and Al Durham. Interment was at the Union Cemetery in Hustletown, Minn. Arrangements were by the Olson Chapel, Funeral & Cremation Service, Rush City, Minn.
Robert, the oldest son of Robert, Sr. and Wilma (Stringham) Antrobus, was born Dec. 24, 1954 at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Aurora Colorado.
The Antrobus family lived in California until Robert reached the age of 16, when they moved back to Colorado. They lived there for only a short time before moving to Pine City, Minn. He attended high school there until his junior year, and graduated from Milaca High School in 1973.
He then enrolled in classes of architecture and drafting at St. Cloud Technical School in St. Cloud, Minn. It was during this time that Robertís daughters, Jen and Jess were born. With his studies completed, Robert returned to the area of Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming where he worked on the oil rigs.
Upon his return to Minnesota, Robert settled in Rush City and was the owner and operator of the Gold Rush Saloon. Shortly after opening his second Gold Rush Saloon, Robert became the father of two more daughters, Amy Jo and Megan.
Robert and his brother, Gary, became partners in a siding business, and later Robert started the construction business known as Hill Top Builders. He was very talented as a carpenter and was able to build new structures or remodel existing ones.
On June 15, 2002, sharing a very special love for each other, Robert was united in marriage to Karen Becker. They made their home in Greeley, Minn.
Robert enjoyed boating and Nascar races. He and Karen, with his brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Carolyn, attended Nascar races in Indianapolis, Indiana. He enjoyed people and always made himself available to anyone in need, whether they were family, friends, or a stranger.
He is survived by his loving wife, Karen; daughters and sons-in-law: Jen and Kevin Drost, Ogilvie, MN, Jess and Peter Gravich, St. Cloud, Amy Jo Antrobus, Forest Lake, Minn. and Megan Antrobus, Rush City; grandchildren: Keegan and Allison Drost; parents: Robert and Wilma Antrobus, Sr., Greeley; sister and brother-in-law: Donna and Dave Loehner, Elk River, Minn.; brothers and sisters-in-law: Gary and Carolyn Antrobus, Braham, Minn., Dale and Annie Antro-bus, Yankton, SD; stepsons: Matthew Simon, Rosemount, Minn., Travis Simon, Greeley; mother-in-law: Iva Lou Becker, Cambridge, Minn.; brothers-in-law: Dan (Deb) Becker, Cambridge, Greg (Michelle) Becker, Isanti, Minn., Paul Becker, Braham, Mike Tanya) Becker, North Branch, Minn., Mark (Joy) Becker, Cambridge; sister-in-law: Shelly (Tim) Pankan, Isanti; father-in-law: Harold (Norma) Becker, Holbrook, Ariz.; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Olin and Bertha Antrobus, William and Geraldine Stringham; aunt Barbara Britton; and uncle Paul Mead.
