NB ninth grade volleyball wins Duluth tourney

The North Branch ninth grade volleyball team captured the championship at the Duluth East Invite Sept. 28. The Vikes reached the semifinals by remaining undefeated against Esko, Hermantown and Proctor and then defeating Carlton to take on Esko in the championship match. The team downed Esko in two games, 15-7, 15-8 for the title.
ìThe team played extremely well, losing only one game in their five matches,î head coach Ron Trunk said. ìWe served and passed well all day.î
The ninth grade squad is 16-2-1 on the season.
