Appreciation for our very own hometown heroes
To the editor: Early in the morning of Aug. 21 our house was struck by lightning, blowing a hole in the roof and starting it on fire. We did not know this right away, and thanks to a very special neighbor, we were alerted. Since our phone service was blown out by the lightning, we had to use a cell phone to call 911. Within minutes, the North Branch Fire Department was here and had started to work on extinguishing the smoldering insulation. We have never had to call the fire department before and we just want everyone to know that you should be proud of your volunteer firemen. They were very professional and were very helpful to us in an extremely stressful situation. We knew some of the firemen that were here that night and helped save our house, but we did not know them all. However, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you all. Next time you see someone you know as a fireman, tell them thank you. You donít know when you may need their help. Thanks, North Branch Volunteer Fire Department. We really appreciate you.
