Primary results

Chisago County residents went to the polls yesterday to whittle the candidates in three local political races: county commissioner districts 1 and 2 and county attorney. Additionally, they had to choose one of two candidates for the DFL party for Dist. 17B. In that race, Monica Abress of Stacy came out on top with 1228 votes over George McMahon, Chisago City, 876.
Five candidates vied for the attorney position with Timothy T. Ryan of Lindstrom garnering the most votes at 1044 and Katherine M. Johnson, North Branch, receiving 884 votes. These two will go on to the Nov. 5 General Election. Coming in third for attorney was Tim Peterson, Lindstrom, 816, Stoney Hiljus, Cambridge, 660 and Jesse A. Johnson, Taylors Falls, 207.
In Commissioner District 1, Brian Greene of Shafer received 364 votes and Lora Walker of Stacy, 338 to place themselves on the ballot for Nov. 5. Incumbent Tom Delaney received 278.
In Commissioner Dist. 2, heading for the November election will be Rick Olseen, Harris, 297, and incumbent Bob Vande Kamp, Almelund, 296. Candidate Richard Greene, North Branch got 250 votes.
