Lilamae KrippnerLilamae Krippner died on Sept. 8, 2002 at the Green Acres Country Care Center in North Branch, Minn. at the age of 87 years. Funeral service was at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, at the Olson Funeral Chapel in Rush City with the Reverend Laurie OíShea officiating. Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minn. Lila, known as Lila to her family and friends, was born May 1, 1915 at Hudson, Wisc. The youngest of two boys and three girls, her proud parents were George and Mary (Thompson) Hughes. Lila graduated from Roberts High School in Roberts, Wisc. in 1931, and then moved to St. Paul, Minn. She was first employed as an assembly worker at the Twin Cities Arsenal, and later decided to try her skills as a switchboard operator. In 1946, while attending a dance at the Prom Center Ballroom in St. Paul, Lila met Alfred Krippner. They were married on June 18, 1947, and moved to Lake Elmo, Minnesota. Lila became a full time homemaker and mother, caring for both sets of parents and raising their son, David. They had lived in Lake Elmo for 20 years when they decided to move to an apartment in South St. Paul. In 1991 they moved to Rush City, Minn. so they could be closer to their son, David, and his family. Lila found many joys in her life. She was always thrilled to go for a ride in the car, whether the destination was near or far. She enjoyed watching the birds, taking walks, and was an avid crocheter of afghans. Most importantly, Lila was very proud and strong in her faith in the Lord. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: David and Terry Krippner, Rush City; stepsons: Robert and Mary Krippner, Owatana, Minn., Donald and Phyllis Krippner, Hastings, Minn.; grandchildren: Kristin Hayek and Amanda Krippner; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary Hughes; husband, Alfred; sisters, Susan and Lois; and her brothers, Lester and Jess. ©ECM Post Review |
