Duncan is their choice for sheriff

To the editor:
This year Chisago County will elect a new sheriff. Both candidates are lifelong area residents and are concerned about their community. Both have been active in their community and church. Both want to reduce overall crime, drug activity and juvenile crime. So what is the difference between these two candidates?
Experience.
Rick Duncan has served as a full-time officer for 16 years, nine of those years as sergeant. During that time Duncan has had a broader range and greater depth of experience. For years he has been dealing with the type of criminal activity that Chisago County is just beginning to experience. Rick Duncan has the leadership skills. He has supervised over 30 officers. Rick Duncan has the people skills. He has headed successful juvenile programs that reduced crime. Rick Duncan has the administrative skills. He has managed a half-million dollar budget and found funding for innovative programs.
Duncan brings a wide range of experience to a community he cares about deeply. Electing Rick Duncan for sheriff this November will give Chisago County the leadership and management the sheriff's department needs.
