Marie Blaisdell
Funeral services were on Friday, Sept. 20, 2002 at the Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch with Rev. Clayton Rudolph officiating. A private family interment will take place at a later date. Arrangements by Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch, Minn. Marie Blaisdell, age 76 of North Branch died on Sept. 17, 2002 at the Lakeview Hospital in Stillwater, Minn. Marie fought valiantly from heart attacks, two bleeding ulcers, diabetes, colon cancer and emphysema for the last 20 years. Marie was born on Oct. 6, 1925 in Chicago, IL to Sam and Sigrid (Clausen) Thorgesen. She attended high school in St. Charles graduating in 1943. On Dec. 31, 1947 she married Jack Keith Blaisdell. They knew each other for only 30 days. Marie was working as a waitress at a local restaurant and Jack was working on the railroad. They have been married over 54 years. Marie worked in an air craft factory during WWII, worked with her husband at Greco in the Twin Cities. He was the boss at work, but she was the boss at home. She was a homemaker for her life work. She retired from Greco in 1987. Marieís hobbies included crafts, crotchet, her family was very important to her and made a good family boss. She worried about everything and was most likely the best worrier in the world. If she didnít have something to worry about, she would find something. She would have made a great detective. She was preceded in death by grandson Bart and brother Sam. She is survived by loving husband Jack of 54 years; two sons Bill and James and wife Bonnie; two daughters Linda and husband Dave Schaubshlager, and Cindy and husband Greg Dupre; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two brothers Kenneth and Nels; two sisters Wilma and Edie. Marie was a fighter and had a great sense of humor. Marie would like nothing better than a party with all her family and friends. Folks said she would want you all to have a gathering that would celebrate the family. She would say to all of you at the time ìSkoal.î his wife Donnavie, his parents, and two brothers, Robert and Jerry. He is survived by his wife Mary; children Linda (Murray) Schmidt of White Bear Lake, Minn., Julie (Dale) Anderson of North Branch, Randy Nelson (Randall Propp) of Apple Valley, Minn., Valerie Nelson of North Branch, and James (Judy) Nelson of North Branch; stepchildren Dianne Mariani of West Plains, MO and Nancy (James) Hiller of Crosby, Minn.; grandchildren Darci (Todd) Marzinski of Mankato, Minn., Kimberly and Stephanie Schmidt of White Bear Lake, Minn, and Ryan (Desiree), Isaac, Sarah Jean, and Alden Nelson of North Branch, Minn., Jamie Burress of Bakersfield, Calif., Andrea (Chad) Allen of West Plains, MO, and Michelle Mariani of West Plains, MO; Mark Knolls, Stephanie Knolls of Crosby, Minn, great-grandchildren Elizabeth and Hannah Marzinski of Mankato, Minn and Justin Allen of West Plains, MO; brothers Gordon and Richard (Beverly) Nelson of Fort Dodge, Iowa; sisters Mardell Bird of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Anna Belle (David) Utter of Mackís Creek, MO; brother-in-law Ted (Marina) Ackley of Apple Valley, Calif., and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Elwood Elwood was a faithful member of Fish Lake Lutheran Church in Stark, Minn. He was a past commander of the North Branch VFW Post 6424 and a member of the North Branch American Legion Post 85.
