Wisconsin man jailed for rape attempt

By Barbara Brown
North Branch police arrested a Hudson, Wisc., man early Saturday morning after they were called to a home for an attempted rape report.
Police were called to the 38500 block of Oakview Circle at 2:39 a.m. on a complaint that a male acquaintance would not leave the house. The caller told police that the man had tried to rape another woman in the house.
Police charged Gregory Allen Floyd, 34, with three charges of criminal sexual conduct. Floyd remained in the Chisago County jail Tuesday on $30,000 bail.
Drunk raccoons?
Police were called to the 5200 block of Nottingham Road at 8:20 a.m. Sept. 18 and to the 6000 block of Oak Circle at 8 a.m. Sept. 22 for reports of strange acting raccoons.
Both callers believed the raccoons were either sick or rabid and reported that they looked dizzy.
After investigation, it was discovered that the raccoons had eaten fermented acorns and that the acorns affected the raccoonsí function.
Police said residents should watch for animals that act oddly and should call police if they see one displaying abnormal behavior. Police also suggested residents watch their dogs because the fermented acorns could be toxic to canines.
