Public hearing set for Sunrise River

A task force has been working on preparing amendments to Chisago Countyís zoning ordinance that would pertain to an area surrounding the Sunrise River/Sunrise Lake watershed.
A public hearing has been set for Sept. 18 during the county board meeting to review the drafted recommendations.
The commissioners will then take under consideration the recommended changes.
Last week, the commissioners adopted a final draft of an ordinance amending the countyís current ordinance on mineral (gravel) extraction.
As noted previously by Chisago County Environmental Assistance Director Marion Heemsbergen, it is mean to protect the county as more and more demands are made for gravel in the future.
