Harris council changes meeting days

Harris City Council meetings will now be held on the first and third Thursdays of each month, following a decision to change from holding the meetings Mondays.
At its Aug. 19 meeting, the council discussed the possibility of holding its two monthly meetings on a different day of the week.
ìWe would like our attorney to be able to be here, and he has township meetings Monday nights,î Mayor Richard Hanson said. ìWhen the moratorium is lifted, we will have some issues where we will want him here.î
After discussion, the council approved changing the meetings to Thursdays. A final decision on which Thursdays of the month was made last week, after the city conferred with attorney Kevin Shoeberg.
The meeting time and location will stay the same, 7 p.m. at city hall.
Scheduled September meetings will be Thursday, Sept. 5 and Thursday, Sept. 19.
