Blood drive one again successful in North Branch

To the Editor:
The community of North Branch responded faithfully on April 1, 2003, to the Red Cross Bloodmobile Blood Drive held at Trinity Lutheran Church- 106 pints of blood were collected.
Congratulations to the 12 donors who earned gallon pins. They are as follows: Roger DeYoung - 4 gallon, Scott Blomquist - 1 gallon, Vernette Bloomquist - 8 gallon, Trevor Olson - 1 gallon, Sharon Shafer - 6 gallon, Marvin Bloomquist - 10 gallon, Karen Lunde - 1 gallon, Ellis Johnson - 8 gallon, Shelli Ness - 2 gallon, Evonne Peterson - 4 gallon, Ron Barsness - 2 gallon, Alicia Seffl - 1 gallon.
We had eight new first-time donors and Donald Cardinal has given 150 pints. Did you know that only 5 percent of the eligible population donate blood? Donors can give blood every 56 days, up to five times a year. Because sterile techniques and disposable needles are used, you cannot get AIDS or any other disease from giving blood.
Again we want to thank everyone who worked and who donated blood.
