Help protect the mourning doves

To the editor:
Please help protect the mourning dove from being hunted in Minnesota. There are bills in Congress right now that are slipping through different committees and getting closer to being passed each day. The mourning dove has not been hunted in Minnesota since 1947 and this is not the time to start.
Our forefathers had the intellect to realize that this is not a bird that should be hunted/killed. It harms no one, is not a predator.
It helps the farmer by eating weed seeds and is our symbol of peace.
It is not harmful in any way and yet our present legislature is willing to kill them just for sport.
The present bill is attached to a fish and game omnibus bill. It could be slipped through unless we do something to address it today.
Call or write your representative and senators and tell them not to vote for any bills that would hunt/kill our precious doves.
