Artifacts more precious than oil

To the editor:
Iraqís national museum was looted. Some of the oldest artifacts of ancient civilization have been lost to he world forever.
Now I read that their national library was destroyed by arsonists. Priceless old quríans are gone.
It saddens and angers me to learn that before the war started, experts in Mesopotamian history had warned U.S. officials of the need to protect the museums and libraries ñ yet the oil was protected.
The U.S. may feel that oil is the greatest wealth in Iraq, but far more precious were the things that were destroyed. By the way, where are the weapons of mass destruction?
