Harold (Blackie) C. King
Harold (Blackie) C. King, 83, of Rush City, Minnesota, died Friday, April 18, 2003 at his home. He was born March 9, 1920 in Long Prairie, Minn. the son of George and Aletha (Henderson) King. Blackie served in the US Army from May 25, 1942, until Jan. 12, 1946. He married Ruth Knutson, May 23, 1958 at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. they made their home in Owatonna after their marriage. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for John Saaf Construction, Roger Hagen and Joe St. John. He retired in 1995. He purchased a home in rural Rush City after his retirement and had lived there since that time. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion and the 49ers Union. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Harold is survived by Sue King (daughter) of Bloomington, Harold and Joyce King (son) of Rochester, Henry King (son) of Rochester, Milton and Shirley King (brother) of Blue Earth, Fern Presteguard (sister) of Houston, TX, Sylvia Westerlund (sister) of Houston, TX and Millie Lackey (sister) of Wells, Minn. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and three sisters. Visitation will be held at Michaelson Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 23 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at 3 p.m. at Owatonna Memorial Gardens in Owatonna. The Reverend Dean Smith will be officiating. Burial will be in the Owatonna Memorial Gardens in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to Michaelson Funeral Homes, Inc., 1930 Austin Road, P.
