Mildred ìMillieî Korf

Mildred ìMillieî Korf, 75, of Pine City, died on April 12, 2003, at the Grandview Christian Home in Cambridge.
The daughter of Henry and Elsie Korf, she was born April 1927 in Chicago, Illinois. the family moved to Milaca when Millie was three years of age; and to Pine City when she was ten years old. She attended school in Pine City and graduated in 1946. the next day she became employed at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company where she worked for 35-1/2 years, first as a telephone operator an later as a Supervisor. All her life she was very active in church, teaching Sunday School for many years. She served for 12 years on the Session at First Presbyterian Church of Pine City as a Clerk and an Elder. She lived with her parents in Pine City until their deaths in 1984. In March of 2000, after knee surgery, she went to live at Grandview Christian Home in Cambridge. She was more of a good will ambassador there than a patient, and always had an inspiring word to uplift her fellow patients and make their days brighter. She will be remembered by her many friends as a very special person, and especially for her cheerful disposition, friendly smile, and kind heartedness.
She enjoyed traveling, and went on many trips with her sister Ruthie and brother-in-law, Mel. She especially loved going to Door County, Wisconsin, every year with them. She loved her dog, Peppie, and enjoyed flowers. She was an avid sports fan and loved to watch baseball and football on television.
Millie is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Elsie Korf; and her greatnephew, Zackary Hatfield. She is survived by one sister, Ruthie and her husband, Mel; brother Henry, Jr. and wife, Janice; brother, Abe and wife, Bonnie; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Services were held on April 17, at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. James G. Ellison officiating. Music was provided by organist, Ruth Lovgren, and soloist, Jennifer Hansmann. Casketbearers were her nephews, Steven Korf, Ted Korf, Doug Fore, Mark Hatfield, Mike Piha, and Curt Kruse. Interment was at the Birchwood Cemetery in Pine City
