Chamber continues scholarships

To the editor:
The North Branch Area Chamber of Commerce is continuing the scholarship project because as a strong community organization, we wish to show support and encouragement to the young people of our community.
This is an opportunity as community leaders to demonstrate the value we place on education and our youth.
We believe that by providing scholarships we:
ïStrengthen the community through education
ï Create goodwill between the business community and our residents
ï Foster community spirit
It is especially important for small town businesses to show a desire for community support. This is another step in expressing community pride.
The chamber determined the scholarship criterion, but selection and distribution is done through the North Branch High School Scholarship Committee. This year we will provide two $500 scholarships.
We would like to thank all the businesses and individuals who contributed to this yearís scholarship: Grand Casino Hinckley, Provide Care, Inc., S & C Bank, Aquila, Harleyís Sod, Curves for Women, Dr. Steven Clawson DDS, Church of St Gregory the Great, Lowell and Kathy Lindo, Nu Tech Engraving, Jane Begich-Johnston, Stampin Up, Jennings DeWan Miller & Anderson, Fernwood Developers, Menne Printing & Graphics, and Landmark Personnel. Special thanks to Chef Steve Vanden Heuvel for his contribution of his infamous chili at the Winter Fest Chili Show Down. The chili proceeds benefited the chamber scholarship. Thank you!
The Chamber scholarships will be presented during the Awards Night on June 4. Good luck to all the candidates.
Kathleen Lindo
Executive Director
