Many ways to enjoy spring in area

To the editor:
Spring has finally arrived. For one thing, there are more warm days than cold and cold spells do not last long any more. Another sure sign of spring is the return of the bluebirds. Yes, theyíre back and it is time to get your bluebird houses ready for them. If you want to learn more about bluebirds attend the Bluebird Recovery Program Annual Conference that will be held at North Branch High School on Saturday, April 12. It is free, but you are encouraged to register, particularly if you want lunch.Ý Call (612) 922-4586 for more information. There is also an Easter Egg hunt in North Branch that day and a Spaghetti Dinner to benefit the Semac children that evening.
Another sign of spring is the Spring Concert series of the St. Croix Valley Orchestra, April 4 (Our Redeemer Lutheran in Pine City), 5 (Elim Lutheran in Scandia) and Sunday, April 6, 2:30 p.m. at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in North Branch. Music will include Strauss, Haydn and Bach and will feature Russian pianist Elena Mitthauser.
It is also time to make cook maple sap into maple syrup at Wild River State Park. Cooking demonstrations will take place both next weekend and the weekend of April 12-13. And next month, the week following Motherís Day, on May 17, they will have their annual spring celebration of Seegwan.
I think we are lucky to live in this community with so many ways to enjoy spring. Take advantage of them. It will help keep your mind off of the horrors of war.
