Ada Hauglie
Ada Hauglie, age 87, passed away peacefully at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Rush City on April 22, 2003. Ada was born in Browns Valley, Minn. on Nov. 11, 1915 to Carl and Amy Peterson. She graduated from Browns Valley High School in 1933. Ada married Walter Hauglie on March 18, 1937. They moved to Braham in 1941, and in 1955 moved to Rush City where they farmed. After the death of her husband in 1971, Ada moved across the road from the farm to her house on Rush Lake. She very much enjoyed living on the lake and loved all the wildlife. During that time, Ada attended Pine City Vocational Technical School and graduated at age 57 in clerical. She was employed at Plastech, Culligan Soft Water, and clerked at the sales barn in Rush City. Then in 1998 she moved to Rush Oaks Apts and in October of 2000, moved to Hillcrest Health Care Center, Rush City. Ada enjoyed traveling and was able to take trips to every state in the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska, and also went abroad visiting nine other countries. She enjoyed spending her winters in Arizona with many of her friends. It was while she was in Arizona that she read an article on Sjogrenís Syndrome that led to her diagnosis. In addition to watching wildlife and traveling, Ada enjoyed spending time with family and friends, crocheting, playing bingo, working crossword puzzles, and watching game shows and the Twins. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter, sister Alice Benjamin, brothers Don and Robert (Bud) Peterson. She is survived by brothers Bill (Helen) Peterson of Browns Valley, Minn., Eddie Peterson of Woodbury, Minn., sister-in-law Velda Peterson of Palouse, Wash., son Ronald, daughters Janice (Mike) Halpin of Isle, Minn., Beverly (Richard) Lofstuen of Bloomington, Minn., Gayle (Bruce) Younglove of Lincoln, NE, and Ginni (Warren) Karas of Stanchfield, Minn., daughter-in-law Carol Hauglie of Rush City, thirteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rush City, Minn. on Friday, April 25, with Rev. Laurie OíShea officiating. Music was provided by soloist Nancy Moulton and organist Dianne Kirchberg. Interment at St. Johnís Lutheran Cemetery at Rush Lake followed the funeral service with Adaís grandsons acting as casket bearers; David Halpin, Randy Kruse, Joe Younglove, Blake and Jack Karas.
