Stacy appoints new councilor

By Barbara Brown
The Stacy City Council appointed resident John Daher to the council to fulfill the term left when Lee Schultz resigned.
Schultz left office nearly one month ago, citing health concerns.
Three people applied for the post, including Daher, planning commissioner Harry Dyson and resident Robert Wilson.
Daher was sworn in before the meeting officially began.
New water meters
The council agreed to install a new water meter reading system that is expected to save both time and money for the city while returning more accurate readings.
Maintenance manager Tom Archibald told the council about the remote system that would use a sensor reader from the outside of a residence, using technology similar to a merchandise scanning wand at department stores, to collect meter readings.
The council agreed to require the meters on all new construction, with a plan to phase them in to every house on the cityís water system in the future.
Foxtail Woods
The council accepted the preliminary plat design for Foxtail Woods, a neighborhood planned with 40 houses on the southwestern side of the city.
Fir Trail
Lent Township sent a letter to the city after the town completed its annual road inspection. The letter, dated April 12, asked for the cityís help on Fir Trail.
The township said a makeshift driveway from the Stacy trailer park onto Fir Trail seemed to be used by all-terrain vehicles and bikes causing the road to be dug into as the riders approach Fir Trail.
The township asked for the cityís help to remove the driveway.
The township also said its inspectors noticed ìa considerable amount of trashî in the ditch at the Fir Trail site.
The township is concerned about health risks and whether the trash would impede drainage of water from the area and asked that it be cleaned up.
Since the trailer park is private property and the city does not maintain the streets, the council agreed to forward the letter and request to the property owner.
Liquor store
The liquor store auditor was expected to be at the meeting, but did not arrive, so the audit review was postponed until the auditor could be contacted.
