Rush City track starts season with high marks

Both the Rush City boys and girls track teams started their seasons at the Great River Conference meet, held Saturday March 29 at St. Cloud State University.
No team results were available, but individual results follow.
Girls:
55m hurdles: Shannon Grimes, 6th, 10.46
55m dash: Alex Saxton, 1st, 7.84
1600m run: Christine Frandsen, 1st, 5:51; Amber Hoffman, 3rd, 6:21
Sprint Medley Relay: team, 3rd, 2:15
400m run: Britta Johnson, 2nd, 1:08.85
800m run: Christine Frandsen, 2nd, 2:41; Amber Hoffman, 5th, 2:55
200m dash: Britta Johnson, Alex Saxton, tied for 4th, 29.78

Ogilvie Meet
Both teams traveled to Ogilvie for the second meet of the season April 1.
The boys team took first place against three other teams, bringing in 95 points.
Braham finished second with 90, New Life Academy was third with 49 and Ogilvie was last with 31.
The boys team secured six first place medals and several second through fourth place honors.
Brett Dreissig was first in two events: 110 high hurdles and 300 intermediate hurdles.
Josh Dahl snagged first in the 1600m run and Kevin Bengston took first in the high jump event.
Jared Dahlberg also had a first place finish, crossing the line ahead of everyone in the 3200m run.
ìWe are a very young team and we show a lot of promise,î said head coach Mike Vaughn.
The girls team also pulled off a landslide win against their three competitors.
The Tiger girls buried Braham, Ogilvie and New Life Academy with the 109 points the team scored.
The girls brought home 9 1st place wins and many teammates brought in second through fifth place titles.
Alex Saxton was first in 100m and second in 200m runs. Amber Hoffman secured first in the 1600m run. Heather Dean was first in the 400m and 200m runs. Christine Frandsen lead the pack in the 3200m run and came away with first place.
ìIím very pleased with the girls performance so early in the season,î Vaughn said. ìThere is still a lot of work to be done.î
The teams were scheduled to compete Tuesday April 8 and Thursday April 10 at home.
