Food drive thank-yous
TO THE EDITOR: The three Family Pathways Food Pantries in Chisago and Isanti Counties wish to thank the community for their food and monetary donations this summer to help support the Summer Lunch Program. The Summer Lunch Program has been offered to families with children who receive free or reduced price lunches in school during the school year. Even though the Summer Lunch Program is two-thirds over, families are still able to sign up for the program. In the month of June, the three Food Pantries served 6,472 pounds of food, which is 5,010 lunches for 334 children from 143 families. While this number seems large, it is only a small percentage of the eligible families from the school districts that Family Pathways serves. It is important to note that even though the Summer Lunch Program is in its last month, the Food Pantries still need your help. Food and cash donations are still needed to make sure the Summer Lunch Program will have enough food for the remaining days in August, as well as to help restock the Food Pantries to help get ready for the holiday season. For additional information about our programs or to make donations or volunteer time to help, contact Chris Drinnin at the Wyoming Food Pantry at (651) 462-7100; Lorraine Swenson at the North Branch Food Pantry at (651) 674-8313; or Carrie Pike at the Isanti Food Pantry at (763) 444-6056. Thank you for your continued support of the Food Pantries and the families in the community. Family Pathways Food Pantry Staff
