Richard was the sixth of eight children of Charles and Emelia Eng. He was born in St. Paul and lived there until he married Susan Myers. They rented an apartment in Hopkins for a year during which time he built a fine wooden boat in which he used to fish in for many years. He contracted and did much of the work on their first house in Rosemont where they lived for sixteen years. Four children were born within five years, Daniel, Patricia, Raymond, and Vernon.
They had another house built and moved to Harris. He did a little part-time farming. A pattern marker by trade and an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener, Richard, very much enjoyed the great outdoors. He liked having extra acreage for pheasant hunting, deer hunting, and cutting wood for heating the house. He also had six beloved Labrador retrievers who were like part of the family. For a few years he purchased pheasant eggs, incubated and nurtured them until the chicks were old enough to be released into the acres. He kept a huge vegetable garden so that he could can and freeze a lot of it and give more to family and friends. He also enjoyed trips to the Boundary Waters canoe area and skiing, both downhill and cross country. After retirement they purchased a second home in Florida and became ěSnow Birds.î
He is survived by his wife, Susan Eng, sons, Daniel Eng of St. Paul, Raymond Eng and his wife Tanya of Brainerd, Vernon Eng and his wife Irina of Zephyrhills, Florida, son-in-law, Glen Larson of Stacy, nine grandchildren, Joseph Eng, Tiana and Jaren Eng, Hannah and Christy Eng, Perrin, Sarah, Austin and Evan Larson, sister, Donna Hager of Mound, MN, his brothers, William Eng and his wife Joan of St. Paul, Morris ěJimî Eng and his wife Patty of St. Paul, Robert Eng and his wife Evelyn of Browerville, John Eng and his wife Betty of Arden Hills, Roger Eng and his wife Audrey of Long Lake, extended family member, ěBlaze,î and many nieces and nephews.
