Charles W. Erickson

Charles William Erickson, 65, Rush City died in his home on Friday, Aug. 15, 2003. He was born on Oct. 25, 1937 in Madison, Minn., to Albert and Edna Erickson.
A memorial service will be
at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday,
Aug. 20, at the Swanson Funeral Chapel in Pine City with Pastor Greg Gritz officiating. Honorary casket bearers are Fred Larson, Jim Obey, Bob Erickson, Joe Jarvis, Craig Heimerl, and Ernie Broz with the interment in Birchwood Cemetery, Pine City. A luncheon and celebration of Charlieís life will be at the American Legion in Pine City.
While attending Madison High School, Charlie participated in track and gymnastics and placed third in Regions on the pommel horse his senior year. He joined the Marine Corp in 1957, with tour of duty in Okinawa, and was honorably discharged prior to his 22 years of service as a cook Forearm with the Bureau of Prisons in Sandstone, Minn.
Charlie had many passions in his life. His first and foremost, was his love to hunt and fish. He was a big sports fan and closely followed the Minnesota teams, especially the Gophers, Twins, and Vikings, this included listening to WCCO and WCMP over the years. Charlie was a socializer who truly enjoyed his happy hour and meet raffles with his close friends. He had the gift of making conversation with anyone who came to know him over the years as being a good man with a big heart, but loved to kid around. He was a kid at heart and loved life itself, but his deepest passion was his love and devotion to his wife, children, and grandchildren, especially the life he made for them growing up on Rush Lake. Finally, he loved his time with his special friend, Chocolate Lab, ìHunter.î
He is survived by his daughter Jenny Skwira and her husband Paul of Prior Lake, stepdaughter, Debby Heimerl of Shakopee, son Jeff Erickson and his wife Melissa of Pine City, five grandchildren, Betsy, Emmy, and Jessy Heimerl, Kelsey Erickson, and Chase Skwira, sister, Ann Blasing and her husband Don of Lake Crystal, sister-in-law, Pam Erickson of England, his special friend, Hunter, and many nieces and nephews.
Charlie is preceded by his parents, Albert and Edna Erickson, wife, Marion, brother, Jim Erickson, sister, Avonne and her husband Webster, and his special friend, ìFreckles.î
