Show your support of the library

To the editor:
ìFriendsî can only do so much I greatly appreciate the supportive library group in North Branch known as ìThe Friends of the Library.î Everyone in it deserves a huge thank you. The improvements in the last five years have amazed me and have greatly improved the environment and access to library materials.
Education is a life-long process. Using the library is a healthy activity for the entire family. Research shows that the best way to create good readers is for the adults or older children in the home to read aloud to the younger children. The more children see their parents and older siblings read, the more enticing it becomes. No matter what your age, sharing what you have read and enjoyed or disagreed with others piques the interest in reading and creates strong bonds of friendship and respect. Reading promotes thinking and examination of ourselves and expands our horizons. Reading and thinking is necessary for a free society. If reading and thinking are ignored, our society is close to destruction. Apathy can be deadly. This is still an activity, which can enhance the individual and provide insight into many of our individual, as well as societal problems. The whole secret is in sharing and examining new/old ideas to make our community a better place in which to live.
With a growing community, we need a library that is able to grow with the community and provide many services to all people. Now, we have an opportunity when interest rates are low, to support an institution that will benefit all who reside in North Branch. Call your commissioners, and encourage them to support the new library. Show your support and
attend the meeting, Wednesday,
Sept. 3 at the Government Center in Center City at 7 p.m. Minds are precious things to waste.
